PEACE AND GREETINGS PARENTS
My name is Kiyoko aka Todae, as many of my friend calls me, (it’s an old college nickname, that’s another story for another day..lol). I’m a high school teacher and a mom of two beautiful humans. My son, who is an inquisitive but comical teenager, will be cracking jokes one minute, then trying to analyze people and the world the next. While my daughter, who is just as comical, is a creative being who likes to paint, make her own beauty products, and is on her own journey to discovering Self. They both keep me on my toes, but both my loves. As a parent, there are so many ups and downs, twists and turns, and trial and errors that I have experienced while raising these two. My sisters and friends, and I sometimes trade stories about the things we go through in our homes with our families and kids. Sometimes it’s a ball of laughs, others, it may call for a glass of wine and a box of Kleenex, or a parent time out to just decompress for a minute. Either way, there’s never a dull moment, but they’re our moments in this parent life. So, what better way to share than to start a blog.
“IT TAKES A VILLAGE”
Parenting can be rewarding and fun, but I can honestly admit that I’m no stranger to its challenges; and that’s ultimately what led me here. There’s an age old adage that says, “It takes a village to raise a child.” Well, let me tell you, if I didn’t have certain people in my corner as part of my “village” which was simply my support system, I don’t know how I would have made it, and even today, “the village” is still needed.
I know that there are many moms and dads out here who already have a “village” or in need of one for support in parenting, which can range from someone to listen to and encourage them, to tips and ideas in recreation, school, disciplining, stress, communication, and so much more. So I decided to establish a space for that. I am no expert but I have been around a block or two in this parenting game, and I’m still learning. However, as I share my experiences, tips, and information with you, I hope that you’ll journey along and share some of yours.
Welcome to More Than A Parent
